DAVID Obua has suffered a rib injury that could virtually rule him out of Hearts’ three friendly matches on the Germany tour.
The Cranes winger was forced to sit out the club’s first build-up fixture against a Rheinghau Select team yesterday. Obua, who damaged his rib after a collision in training, was expected to undergo a pre-cautionary X-ray to determine the extent of the injury.
The lanky midfielder’s set-back consequently denies coach Laszlo Csaba the chance of testing his first summer signing’s fitness before Hearts opener against Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League on August 9.
Obua completed his four-year contract move last Saturday but is yet to secure a work permit.
Meanwhile, South Africa-based goalkeeper Posnet Omony has earned sh197m after Bloemfontein Celtics terminated his contract.
Celtics had just rewarded the gangly custodian with a two-year contract in May. He has now joined relegated side Black Leopards.
* FUFA will not be derailed by former national coach Lazslo Csaba's utterances and will instead proceed to write directly to the world soccer governing body, FIFA, for intervention, adds Norman Katende.
FUFA executive member Moses Magogo yesterday told the weekly press conference that: “Our position remains unchanged. We still want to be compensated. We have waited for a feedback but it has not yet come through. Our next step is to now write to FIFA directly for intervention.â€
FUFA has been involved in a war of words with Csaba over the last two weeks since the latter abandoned his Cranes coaching job to take up the manager’s post at Scottish club Hearts. Csaba accused FUFA of failure to respect his contract, while FUFA demands compensation from Hearts.
Magogo said that they were working hard to ensure that “the house is in order†by the time the Cranes regroup for their next Africa Cup of Nations encounter away to Niger in September.
“We are not sitting back. What we want is compensation for the disruption that was caused by his abrupt abandonment of the team. Otherwise we are already looking for a new coach,†he emphasised.
