Make next week your school’s peace week

Jul 23, 2008

Peace is the desire of mankind. In order to be peaceful, we need to talk, live, act and think peace. Peace also has to be shared with people around you and beyond. We suggest that next week be set aside as a week of peace in all schools.

Peace is the desire of mankind. In order to be peaceful, we need to talk, live, act and think peace. Peace also has to be shared with people around you and beyond. We suggest that next week be set aside as a week of peace in all schools.

The following are the activities we recommend for students, teachers school administrators and non-teaching staff.

- Go out of your way to make somebody within the school happy. You can do this through an exceptional act of kindness or in any way you find appropriate.

- Is there anybody in the community around the school who needs your help? Extend your act of service and touch their lives in a special way.

-Sow seeds of peace by mediating between any conflicting parties within the school.

- Show courtesy by using golden words like ‘thank you’, ‘I am sorry’, ‘please’.

At the end of the week, let the students, teachers and administration vote and elect ‘Peace Medal’ prize winners under the following categories: The most peaceful teacher, student, non-teaching staff and overall winner. The winners should be students or staff members who have exhibited extra-ordinary or creative acts peace in the course of the week.

The awards will strictly be determined and given internally by the school administration. You can also choose to have Peace Medal awards every term to instill the peace culture in your school community.
