AFRIGO, Kampala’s oldest bands, is again moving out of its cocoon at Club Obbligato to tour the US and the UK next month. “We are going to perform every weekend starting with Boston on August 12,” says Moses Matovu, the band leader and saxophonist.

Thereafter the band will travel to Washington, Chicago and Florida. “We have been touring the US and the UK every year since 1995 so our ardent fans know about it.

There is no disappointment,” Matovu explains. It will be fun for the band’s fans in the US but a frustrating time for those who to listen to the band at Club Obbligato on Fridays and Saturdays.

The band will celebrate Independence Day with the Ugandans in the UK.
The US Tour 2008 is setting a mark. “We are going to release our still untitled 2008 CD during the tour,” says Matovu.

And that will mark the first time Afrigo Band releases an album abroad. The album includes songs like Sirina Reverse, Asante, Ngenze Nawe and Catalina. The band will also play the old favourites.
