DESPITE the improper manner in which the Buganda Kingdom officials were arrested, the Government should he commended for respecting the court order to release them, Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has said.

“While we rejoice over their release, we pray that the suspected crimes will be published in all truth and nothing else but the truth.”

The bishop was last week addressing Catholic teachers at Namugongo Catholic Martyrs’ Shrine.

Mengo information minister Charles Peter Mayiga, his deputy Medard Seggona and Betty Nambooze, the chairperson of the Civic Education Committee on land, were arrested on July 25 and freed a week later.

They were accused of promoting sectarianism, inciting violence, terrorism and attempting to acquire guns.

However, Nambooze and Lubega have been charged with sedition and released on bail. Mayiga, who has not been charged, was released on Police bond.

On another matter, Lwanga also asked the Police to make public the findings of their investigations into the rampant school fires.

“These fires are no longer accidents but systematically organised crimes intended to kill innocent children and destroy school property. The findings should be published so that we know whoever was involved,” he said.
