MARYHILL High School students recently celebrated their peace day with a beauty pageant. There were 14 contestants vying for the Miss Peace crown and Musimenta Lilbert, S.2 was crowned the 2008/09 Miss Peace of Maryhill. Martha Atuhirwe and Brenda Lynn Kirungi were the runners-up.

To win the crown, Musimenta exuded grace, charm and confidence on the catwalk.

Miss Peace contestants dressed in such outrageous fashions that they received a standing ovation from the audience.
The judges said they were impressed by the dressing, modelling, confidence and creativity of the contestants.
Former Miss Peace Shiba Kiconco crowned Musimenta, as students and staff chanted peace be at Maryhill forever.

Meanwhile, there was a debate under the motion: Too much power given to prefects is the major cause of strikes in schools to celebrate the day.
The opposition side said strikes were caused by disobedience of students to teachers, lack of parental guidance, bad attitude and peer pressure.

However, proposers supported the motion that strikes were caused by prefects not taking advice from fellow students, the heavy punishment prefects give fellow students and privileges given to prefects.
