Greenhill should not bait parents that way!

Greenhill Academy, for instance, could not admit my son because he had attended nursery from a different school!

If a parent is lucky to acquire a place there his or her child will either be made to repeat pre-primary, or undergo ‘rapid fire exercises’ so as to reach the Greenhill ‘standards’.

I did not want to subject a young brain to such torture, knowing full well that he was performing well where he came from.

My son could read story books, make simple additions and subtraction, and spell reasonably.

What more could a primary school want from a child? I opted to take him to another primary school and he is performing very well.

My question to Greenhill and such other schools is, do they think they can ever enrol all the Kampala children in their pre-primary section?

I think it is wrong to use your pre-primary as a fishing net to the vulnerable parents. You should learn a lesson or two from schools like Aga Khan Primary, Kampala Parents and City Parents which admit children from different nursery schools, and discover that some of those pupils perform even better than their own. Parents should also learn that children attending nursery schools that do not have a primary or secondary section, are given better care and attention than those from schools with those sections. The reasons for this are obvious. I wish the education ministry could take interest in this matter!
