Sembabule boss deserves a reward

This attracted my attention because there have been media reports accusing districts like Wakiso, Masaka and Kayunga of having increased fuel and other allowances for district officials.

The IGG, alongside other anti-corruption agencies has been battling corruption in Uganda for a long time. Local leaders should therefore emulate Herman Sentongo, the Sembabule LC5 boss who was portrayed in your cartoon of August 13, refusing a plate of chicken in consideration for the impoverished who cannot afford health services, water, roads and good schools.

Transparency International, the ethics and integrity ministry, the Anti-corruption coalition and the office of the IGG should look into ways of rewarding people like Sentongo who have taken a selfless stand against corruption and gluttonous selfishness.
