NAMUTUMBA-Conmen who extort money from parents promising to get university scholarships for their children will be arrested, the LC5 chariman, Michael Saire, has warned. He said he had received information that some people were obtaining money from parents under the pretext of securing them scholarships through the district quota system. Saire advised parents to report such people to the authorities.

3 guards arrested
TORORO-The Police have arrested three private security guards over the theft of 60 litres of diesel. The suspects are Peter Okalanyi, Andrew Masita, and Michael Mukwana, all attached to Blue Harcom Security Guards. They allegedly colluded to siphon the fuel from the stand-by generators for uganda telecom on Tororo rock. The district Police commander, Venn Gaudencio Okumu, said the three were netted by their colleague on Thursday. They are being detained at the central Police station. Okumu said they would be charged with theft.

Kamuli to get ferry
KAMULI-Residents of Bukungu are to get a ferry worth sh2.8b. It will also serve the people of Amolatar in the north, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has said. Meeting a delegation of leaders from Buwenge town at her home in Mbulamuti on Wednesday, Kadaga said the ferry would start operating this year. She noted that the ship would boost trade in Busoga and the north.
