QUESTION BOX

Dear Dr,

I am a 35-year-old man. My problem that the foreskin of my penis does not pull back completely. The penis stays covered even when fully erect. I want to cut the skin so that the penis comes out. Is this possible?

PK
Dear PK,
The skin which covers the head of the penis is called the foreskin, or the prepuce. Usually, when the penis is erect, this skin is pulled back so the head of the penis is exposed.

In a few men, this is not possible. The foreskin cannot be pulled back completely. The hole in it may be very small, or it may be just big enough to roll onto the head of the penis. This condition is called phimosis. It can make erection uncomfortable.

The solution is a circumcision to remove the foreskin. Or that skin can be split. See a doctor about it.
