BUKEDDE FM is to be launched today. The radio went on air earlier this month and broadcasts on 100.5FM. Popularly known as Embuutikizi, the radio is affiliated to Bukedde, a Luganda newspaper, owned by The New Vision Group.

The two-day launch kicks off at 6:00am with the breakfast show, Bukedde Butya, hosted at the Old Taxi Park. The four-hour show is presented by Mark Mukunja and Hellen Nakacwa.

Bukedde editor Geoffrey Kulubya said listeners would interact with their presenters.

“People who work down-town own Bukedde FM,” Kulubya stated. “We want them to interact with their presenters.”

Listeners at the park, Kulubya stressed, would receive gifts and prizes including T-shirts. “The launch coincides with Bukedde’s 14th anniversary and with the Kabaka’s eighth wedding anniversary,” he said.

To commemorate the wedding, a poster of Kabaka Ronald Mutebi and the Nabagereka (his wife) has been inserted into Bukedde newspaper today. At around 10:00am, the Bukedde FM crew will march through Ben Kiwanuka Street, Bombo Road,Wandegeya, Bwaise and Kalerwe, all Kampala suburbs.

According to Kulubya, today’s activities will wind up at Wallet Pub in Kabuusu, Rubaga Division at 9:00pm. The listeners will wine with popular Bukedde FM presenters Olanya Columbus and Bills Bbutoddene.

“All action will be relayed live on Bukedde FM,” Kulubya said.

Tomorrow, the radio will launch its public talkshow, Ttabamiruka, at The New Vision offices at Plot 19/21 First Street in Industrial Area at midday.

To participate in tomorrow’s Kimeeza launch, Kulubya explained, one must have an invitation card which can be picked today from the Old Taxi Park or at The New Vision’s reception.
