St. MARY’S Kitende SS retained the East Africa Schools Games soccer title after edging compatriots Old Kampala 3-2 in the final in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday.

Kenya took the overall title after victory in basketball, rugby, hockey and volleyball.

But the Kitende’s triumph in soccer and netball and Gombe’s victory in handball placed Uganda ahead of Tanzania, hosts Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya.

Julius Ssenoga opened the score-line for the COPA Coca-Cola champions after 25 minutes before Mohamed Latif added another.

Chrisestom Ntambi put the issue beyond doubt with 10 minutes to the final whistle against a spirited Old Kampala side.
