Arrest boda boda riders in a better way

Editor — I have been following the crackdown on motor traffic and specifically on boda bodas by the Police.

Editor — I have been following the crackdown on motor traffic and specifically on boda bodas by the Police.

I am in support of the crackdown. However, the issue is not the failure of boda boda riders to wear helmets, but their indiscipline. And I think the Police are to blame for this.

Boda boda riders breach traffic rules in the presence of the traffic Police with impunity!

Even with the crackdown in progress, the boda boda riders are still committing traffic offences.
Do the traffic Police need to make an announcement before mounting a crackdown on offenders? I thought this was their daily task.

Ndugu Kayihura, you need to do something soon.

EDITOR — I think the way the Police are arresting boda boda cyclists is archaic! To use force to arrest boda boda traffic offenders puts the life of both the passenger and the cyclist at risk!

What about the life of the arresting officer because he concentrates on the one he is chasing, only to be knocked down by another boda boda or vehicle.

I witnessed an incident where a boda boda rider carrying two passengers, fell with his passengers as he was being chased. The poor passengers found themselves down with bruises. The arresting officers then confiscated the boda boda.
I know these cyclists are reckless, but should they be arrested in this manner?

As much as we need sanity on our roads, we must attain it professionally.
