Jinja Municipality East MP Nathan Igeme Nabeta is becoming quite the influential businessman in his constituency. After the successful Jinja-based vernacular radio station Nile Broadcasting Services (NBS 89.4 FM), Nabeta is at it again.
Jinja Municipality East MP Nathan Igeme Nabeta is becoming quite the influential businessman in his constituency. After the successful Jinja-based vernacular radio station Nile Broadcasting Services (NBS 89.4 FM), Nabeta is at it again.
SMART FM, his latest project has started testing its signals on the airwaves. The new radio station will broadcast on 89.0FM and in English. Nabeta, a former trade state minister, is also the proprietor of Kampala based NBS TV and a recording studio. Recently, the Government ordered the relocation of Kirinya Prison in Jinja to another place after he (Nabeta) presented proposals of setting up a multi million dollar ICT park at the site.
Construction of the Lake Victoria Institute of Technology (LAVITE) was supposed to be launched by president Museveni in July but it was postponed.
Sources say on completion, the institute will be the largest in eastern and central Africa and will employ over 6,000 people. It will among other things have two five star hotels.
