UOC set to review Olympics performance

THE Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has summoned all their affiliates for a meeting to review Uganda’s representation and performance at the Beijing Olympic Games.

THE Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has summoned all their affiliates for a meeting to review Uganda’s representation and performance at the Beijing Olympic Games.

The meeting will also lay strategies for the Olympic Games in London in 2012 the 2016 edition.

UOC secretary general Gabriel Oloka invited sports federations for a meeting that will take place on September 20 at Grand Imperial Hotel.

“Each association/federation is requested to send a representative to this meeting, who should be in the capacity of either the chairman or general secretary of the association/federation,” the communication read in part.
“It is a discussion about the way forward,” Oloka explained.

Uganda failed to win a medal at the recent Games held in Beijing, China.
Moses Kipsiro was Uganda’s best performer after finishing fourth in the 5000m final.

The last Olympic medal was a bronze won by Davis Kamoga in the 400m at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
