THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has said issues raised by the Inspector General of Government (IGG) report “have been since fixed or are in the process of being put right.”

The New Vision recently reported that the IGG, Justice Faith Mwondha, had submitted a report to President Yoweri Museveni, calling for the overhaul of the Fund.

The report, among many issues, makes special mention of insufficient members benefits, mismanagement, poor leadership and corruption, which the IGG said had affected NSSF performance in service quality and return on members savings.

But Charles Muhoozi, the NSSF chief marketing and communications officer, said whereas the IGG’s concerns “are very crucial and to a greater extent mirrored the concerns of the members and the general public,” the Fund had since moved to tackle most of the issues raised in the report.

“We appreciate the IGG’s report and we believe her views represent those of most members but what was raised in the report does not take into consideration the several changes that have happened since the new management came in,” he said in a statement.

. Much of the members’ grievances have been addressed in the fund’s five-year strategic plan,” he said in a statement.
