BANKOM, an electronic payments service provider, has installed a new software, Postilion, to boost its services.

Postilion is the leading software for self-service banking and payments.

“The Postilion platform will enable flexibility through user-friendly monitoring and technical tools. Postilion offers real-time connections, enabling quicker transactions and faster troubleshooting,” Bernard Mogaka, the Bankom sales and marketing manager, said in a statement issued recently.

Bankom provides transaction processing services to Orient Bank, Commercial Micro Finance, dfcu and Cairo International Bank.
The innovation will enable banks’ customers to use e-payment channels for bill payment, mobile banking and mobile phone account top-ups.

“Not only will the process reduce transaction costs, the platform shall transform Uganda into a cashless society,” Deon van Biljon, the SVP and general manager for Postilion Africa, added.

The software will offer banks economies of scale through shared use of resources like ATM services and eventually reduce transaction costs in the economy.

The Postilion platform acts as a payments hub, consolidating multiple card and transaction types from diverse sales channels and creating a single customer view.

It provides for authorisation, settlement, reconciliation and comprehensive management of information.

It processes over seven billion transactions annually, driving more than 100,000 ATMs and 500,000 point of sales devices globally.

Over 300 customers in 50 countries depend on Postilion for secure end-to-end payments software solutions, according to the group’s website.
