Busoga University situation is worrying

EDITOR—Student life within and around Busoga University main campus is cause for worry. The university is yet to start expanding with hundreds of students still squeezing under tree shades for their lectures! Apart from kiosks, there is no university canteen.
EDITOR—Student life within and around Busoga University main campus is cause for worry. The university is yet to start expanding with hundreds of students still squeezing under tree shades for their lectures! Apart from kiosks, there is no university canteen.
Students have to go as far as Iganga town for small things like groceries and stationery. Poor water supply and few toilets remain a challenge to everyone. Sports facilities whose development started several years ago still lie bushy and incomplete.
This has prevented students from engaging in constructive co-curricular activities and led to unbearable idleness especially among male students who have resorted to uncontrolled drinking! The only university hostel at this campus barely accommodates 50 girls!
The absence of better and adequate accommodation, especially for girls, has forced most of the students to reside in small houses in Iganga town and nearby trading centres where they are, as they put it, “living life to the fullâ€! Soon, Iganga is going to be overwhelmed by street children!
