Is this a case of bribery or compensation?

However, there are a few bad apples in our community. Ridiculous as it may sound, once in a while we find a man in our misdst who thinks that his hat is more important than his head! This is exactly the case in Kamuli village. Some lecturer at Makerere University on Kamuli Lubawo Road and a few other people think their perimeter walls are more important than a tarmacked road! I simply cannot understand this mentality. The stretch along their houses will not be tarmacked because they argue that they are in Kampala City Council and not in Wakiso and would rather live with ‘their’ mud and dust than have part of their walls demolished! I wish to know whether KCC failed to compensate these people or some officials were bribed to let them alone. How can a few spoilsports bar the development of our area in such a myopic manner?

Isn’t this part of the national programme to upgrade roads? It is obvious their walls were built in the road reserve and yet nobody is rising a finger! Why? Secondly, even if these people do not budge, I do not understand why most of the remaining stretch cannot be surfaced since one part of that road is a reserve created by the Northern Bypass.

The owners of that land were compensated a long time ago. Who will help us? What does the local government minister Kahinda Otafiire say about the matter? What does the transport minister John Nasasira have in mind? Is he aware of what is happening? What about the local councils? Surely, must President Museveni oversee every single project in this country? Who can sort out this mess and do the right thing? Incredible!
