A science laboratory worth sh300m was opened at St Mary’s college Aboke in Apac district on Friday.

A science laboratory worth sh300m was opened at St Mary’s college Aboke in Apac district on Friday.
The storied laboratory was built by Teer De Hommes, a Dutch charity based in the Netherlands.
It was handed over to the school authorities by the charity’s regional director, Lenny Kling.
Commissioning the project, housing and urban development minister Daniel Omara Atubo said the LRA war devastated the north and that people should not accept rebellion again in order to encourage investments in the area.
He said European countries suffered a lot of destruction during the two world wars but they had now stabilised and did not want to hear about war.
The LRA rebels led by Joseph Kony attacked and abducted 136 girls from Aboke college in 1996.
“We expect no war to erupt in northern Uganda again because of the lesson we have learnt,†Atubo said, adding that nobody want ed structures built by the donors to be destroyed as a result of another war.
He urged the school authority to use the facility properly to uplift the standard of sciences in the country.
Lenny Kling commended the school authority for being transparent in using the funds and pledged to continue supporting them.
The school head teacher, Anna Maria, thanked the Government for promoting sciences.
