GERMANY’S Andre Begemann pushed closer to a hat-trick of titles at the ITF/Futures tennis Kampala leg yesterday with an easy win over Italian Marco Bella in the quarter-finals.
The seed-three was aggressive and in total control of his game putting pressure on his Italian opponent on his returns, serve and baseline.
He easily took the first set 6-2 after running to an early 4-0 lead. While still holding serve in the second set, Bella clawed back to take a 3-2 lead after breaking his rival in the fifth game.
But Begemann broke again in the eighth game with deep baseline winners to take command at 5-3 before finally completing his win 6-3.
“I had to put pressure on his serve because I realised he was making faults on his return, back and forehand,†Begemann, winner of the Burundi and Rwanda legs said.
