KENYA Commercial Bank (KCB) last week unveiled a new financial facility that will ease business transactions in southern Sudan.

The KCB Biz-Flex will enable traders receive and remit payments safely between Uganda and South Sudan.

“We found it necessary to offer the product in southern Sudan since traders are facing challenges especially when it comes to the issue of money transfers,” James Agin, the managing director, said during the launch at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Agin disclosed that traders on the route had been at risk of losing money and lives because of moving with big amounts of cash.

“The KCB Biz-Flex will therefore ensure assurance of sending and receiving payments and also make confirmations before dispatching goods,” he said.

Agin disclosed during the launch ceremony that KCB was the only fully-fledged commercial bank operating in southern Sudan.

But traders can now conduct safe payments and collections, bank transfers, letters of credit, foreign cheques and soon they will also be able to enjoy credit card facilities,” Agin said.

The bank is also in the process of opening branches in Lira, Gulu, Arua, to create the link with southern Sudan network.
