ABOUT a year after he dropped his album Tezibirwa Kubo, Mesach Semakula is set to launch another album, Mummy Nzize. The album will be launched in two concerts.

The first one will take place on October 17 at Hotel Africana and the other on October 19 at Kiwatule Recreational Centre. Among the supporting acts are Eagles Production, The Obsessions, Silver Kyagulanyi, Bobi Wine, Sophia Nantongo, Desire Luzinda, Sam & Sophie Gombya, Mozey Radio & Weasel, DJ Michael, Alisha Busulwa, Dwelling Places (an orphanage choir) and Betty Mpologoma.

The album has already stirred up a lot of interest and the reward for the artiste has been ample radio exposure and a Pearl of Africa Music Awards nomination for Best Live Band Single.

Njagala Nyimbire Omutanda is a Kiganda folk song with all its trappings — charismatic singing and a rich repertoire of traditional instruments that range from ngalabi (long drums), madinda (xylophones), nsasi (shakers) and drums.

The song is in praise of the Ssabasajja Kabaka of Buganda. It has has already stirred up a lot of public interest especially with its equally exhilarating video.

The socially-conscious title track, a mid-tempo Afropop song laments about how things are changing for the worst.

Semakula tactfully comments on the various social vices such as hypocrisy and greed, through a conversation with his mum in which he asks her for advice on how to wade through the murky waters of life.

This song has been further popularised by the video which was released a few months ago.
