Kagoro’s bad refereeing
EDITOR — I’m very bitter with how the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association has let basketball referees manipulate the players and the game.
Yes, majority of the collective referees within the basketball body are doing a good job officiating the games honestly and fairly, but I would like for FUBA to re-check referee Brian Kagoro’s handling of league matches. Kagoro not only ignores flagrant fouls committed by one team, but also makes up fouls against the other teams forgetting the dignity of basketball.
These are some of the simple and obvious reasons many players are discouraged from what should otherwise be a very enjoyable sport. FUBA needs to reprimand referees who are not fair.

Nawa’s example
EDITOR —I was hugely impressed by the arrival and eventual dominance of the Uganda Ladies Open by Zambian teenager Mellisa Nawa. That the 16 year-old has 10 years experience poses a very good example to UGU, on which direction the sport should take in Uganda. I hope someone at Kitante is aware that the future lies in such youth.
