<b>Cop held over bribe</b><br>KAMPALA-A Police constable attached to the Central Police Station was on Monday charged with taking a bribe of sh40,000. George Wamala was charged at Buganda Road Court and remanded in Luzira prison. He denied the charge before Magistrate John Wekesa.

KAMPALA-A Police constable attached to the Central Police Station was on Monday charged with taking a bribe of sh40,000. George Wamala was charged at Buganda Road Court and remanded in Luzira prison. He denied the charge before Magistrate John Wekesa.
Wamala allegedly solicited for the money from Mansuru Kyaku, a city businessman, so as to release his vehicle which had been impounded.

Odoki advises on offenders
KAMPALA-Petty offenders should be subjected to community service to reduce congestion in prisons , Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki has said. “We want to promote the use of alternative justice mechanisms for all minor offences to reduce the growing number of detainees in prisons,” he said the detainees’human rights were being violated.
