MBARARA Police have arrested a teenager on suspicion of having defiled a two-month-old baby at Koranorya trading centre in Kakiika sub-county, Mbarara district.
Akim Byaruhanga, 18, was arrested on September 19. The district Police CID chief, Jackson Tumwine, said Rehema Nakyansi, the victim’s mother, reported Byaruhanga to the Police.
Nakyansi alleges that on September 19 at around 2:00pm, she left the child sleeping inside the house and went to a nearby shop to buy cooking oil. When she returned after 15 minutes, she found the baby crying.
“My cousin Sharif Kashaija told me he found Byaruhanga defiling the baby,†Nakyansi said. She said she did not believe it and took the baby to her neighbours, who checked the baby’s private parts and realised that some object had penetrated her.
