Your shoes can tell who you are

Every time a man approaches me, I look at his shoes. To me and most of my female friends, shoes make a huge statement about a man’s personality?

Well, it may all be down to ridiculous stereotyping, but if you are sensitive to people around you, take a look at the shoes you are wearing.

In the feminine world, the shoes a man wears shows how well he takes care of himself, his style, how important material things are to him. Yes, and if he is rich or poor.

But, sometimes, men wear shoes without knowing what kind of signals they are sending out

Sneakers or trainers
“You see a man wearing some beat up old sneakers. The first thought is; he is ‘Trashy or does not have much money,’ says Rachael a student of Makerere University Business School. “But a man with fancy sneakers looks good,” she adds.

What you match with your sneakers will also tell a lot about you. You show up at a wedding wearing a suit with sneakers, you are definitely the careless type and worst of all you are a borrowing culprit. If you really bought that suit, you would have the right shoes to compliment it.

Bright-coloured shoes
A former DJ at Capital FM shocked people when he appeared at a function with red, sharp pointed shoes. Probably he knew the function was attracting Kampala’s finest and he was desperate to attract attention.

Seraph, a banker thinks men who wear brightly-coloured shoes are attention seekers. “Looking at the shoes, it’s like the man is saying ‘look at me, I am around’,” she explains. The shoes also reveal a feminine side; you might have been the only boy among six girls.

However some ladies believe that brightly-coloured shoes, matched well, bring out a man with a unique sense of style.

The old shoes
You have had these shoes since campus and it’s still had to let go. Most people refer to you as “the man with the suede shoes.” This reveals that you are mean even to yourself.

Besides being mean, you are a mummy’s boy. Since she cannot shop for you anymore, you stick to the pair she last bought for you.

Sharp-pointed shoes
Some people have misgivings about these shoes. Juliet Ninyenda, a resident of Kireka thinks men in love with such shoes are womanisers. She wonders why a man would be obsessed with sharp-pointed shoes?

Loafers
Check into one to complete your faded jeans on a Friday and you will be trendy. They are not suitable for office except on weekends. Loafers are for people who love to party, people who cannot wait for the weekend to don them and head to hot spots after work. These shoes also reveal a man with a simple profile and likes easy life. They are easy to put on and usually come in colours which are easy to maintain.

Lug sole shoes
The most popular of these is the timberland boot that flooded the Ugandan market not so long ago. Wannabes are the biggest fans for the timberland shoes. They don’t care whether the shoes are oversize. There are also lug sole which are used for the office type. They reflect tough and rough guys.
