A SCHOOLGIRL charged with murdering her boyfriend at a school party has been transferred from Fort Portal to Naguru remand home in Kampala.

Shakira Kansiime had been sent to Kitumba Remand Home on Monday after she appeared before Grade One magistrate Johnson Karemera Karemani.
However, Kabarole district probation officer Shamim Kakugulu said the girl was transferred to Naguru after reports that some people were planning to attack the Kitumba home to lynch her.

Kakugulu said the home did not have adequate security to repulse an attack.
Kansiime is supposed to reappear in court on October 28 for the mention of her case.

The suspect, a senior two student at Mpanga Senior Secondary School in Fort Portal, was arrested over stabbing her boyfriend, Tadeo Bukye, on October 4, during a farewell party at the school for senior six students.

The girl is said to have attacked the boy after he reportedly refused to dance with her.

Bukye preferred to dance with another girl, said to be Kansiime’s cousin, students told the Police.

The act is said to have angered Kansiime, who is suspected to have gone to the nearby Mpanga market to buy a knife with which she allegedly stabbed Bukye.

Earlier reports said Kansiime used a knife meant to cut the party cake.
The Police is still deployed at Mpanga Secondary School to prevent clashes between senior two and senior four students.

The western regional Police public relations officer, Elly Matte, said the Force would stay at the school until senior four students complete their final national examinations and leave.

Matte said they got reports from Kansiime’s classmates in senior two that the senior four students were planning a revenge attack over the death of their colleague.

A teacher at the school said some students, especially those in senior two, had not reported back to the school following the gruesome incident for fear of being targeted in revenge attacks.
