RENOWNED international evangelist Joyce Meyer has called on the war-affected people of northern Uganda to practice forgiveness so that God can set them free.

“It is impossible for somebody to hurt you and you do not feel angry. When God tells you to forgive, it is not for your enemies but for us. Forgiveness is something we have to practice everyday,” Meyer counselled the multitude of people who had jammed the Kaunda Grounds on Friday.

Meyer is in the country for a one-week tour of the Watoto Childcare Ministries.
The US-based preacher added that the insurgency in the north was a result of witchcraft, saying her coming should offer a healing opportunity for the people.

She called for a spiritual warfare so that the ‘strong-hold of devils’ could be destroyed.

“I have come to pray for God's favour in Gulu. For three years, you never had this kind of life, but God is sending His people to heal you.

“I was anointed by God when still in the womb to lead. And many of you will be anointed for leadership positions,” Meyer preached.

The evangelist also visited the Unyama internally displaced people’s camp to see the effects of the war on the people.

A total of 14 buses and 26 mini-buses transported people from the camps to attend the crusade. Meyer visited Lamin-Adera in Koro sub-county, where the Watoto Childcare Ministries will be built.
