THE battle for supremacy between the football clubs association SDCA and the game’s governing body FUFA continues today when the two parties meet sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi at Lugogo.
The SDCA has consistently questioned FUFA decisions and wants a bigger say in the running of the Uganda Super League.
FUFA on its part blames the top executive of SDCA of using the association to help boost their individual ambitions of taking the FUFA top job.
In the latest disagreement, SDCA asked members not to attend a scheduled meeting with FUFA head Lawrence Mulindwa last week.
Only Kakira, Sharing, Mbarara, Bunamwaya, Victors, URA, Simba and Bugerere of 18 teams attended the meeting.
Mulindwa said the clubs had given him a go ahead to discipline errant SDCA officials.
In the meeting between the federation and the club chairmen and secretaries at FUFA House, Mengo, clubs blamed the federation for “being lenient and giving chance for politics to override football development.â€
“We are going to come up with punishments for dissent. The only way to do this is by having penalties in place,†Mulindwa told the meeting.
“We have met with SDCA four times and have agreed on almost everything but after the meeting they change their statements,†Mulindwa said after the meeting.
He blamed the SDCA of politicising football matters. FUFA elections are next year and Kisekka is a likely candidate for the top job.
