SINCE the launch of his autobiography earlier this year, Prof. Benny Kalanzi the ‘Piano wizard’ had not staged any concert. He recently re-emerged from his ‘recess’ and staged a piano recital at Hotel Africana.

Kalanzi demonstrated amazing skill as he played classical works by immortal composers with maximum agility.
His repertoire included Beethoven, M. Clementi, G.F Handel and Dussek.

He sang some African folk songs like Akawologoma, modern African songs and pop songs like Ketty.

Kalanzi also played intricate traditional ensembles like the Ntongooli (bow-lyre) and Nnanga (Bow-harp).

Kalanzi performed with members of his ensemble, Villa Masaka, who spiced up the show with traditional dances. All the proceeds from the concert went to the development fund of the Archdiocese of Kampala.
