INITIALLY it was all about owning a laptop.The size was not an issue. But with the coming of miniature laptops commonly referred to as “netbooksâ€, many are seeing the shortfalls of the traditional big laptops.
Julius Mugisha, a computer technician on Kira Road Kampala says miniature laptops are fairly light. Like any other computer, they perform all functions done by the bigger versions except that they rely on external components like the floppy and optical drive.â€
“One of their qualities is excellent specifications, for instance, the acer aspire one has big storage space, and the speed is high.
A wifi wireless connection, an inbuilt web cam camera and four hours of none stop battery life without charging,†says Mugisha.
They can support any operating system. Although they are new in the market, their spares are available with the suppliers and service centres which repair them.
They are of various types such as the MSI Wind, Asus’s new Eee 1000, acers aspire one, HP 2133 Mini-Note, cloudbook . They are manufactured by different companies from several countries.
