Bobi’s unplugged made up for botched album launch

Unplugged music gives the human voice the respect that it is due. And while some previous unplugged artistes have given performances akin to watching paint dry, Bobi Wine’s was different.
He merited the adulation showered upon him at the Club Beer-sponsored event at Silk Lounge last Thursday.
He had a botched album launch (Mazzi Mawanvu) when the Police prematurely closed his show. This time round, he sang for a record two hours.
It took little to drive his fans into frenzied fits after Gen. Mega Dee, Rocky Giant, Buchaman, Henry Tigan and Phantom Lovins were done rousing the crowd.
Rather than immediately dwell on music, Wine preached: “While good boys go to heaven, bad boys go everywhere.., I am a bad boy,â€
On his recent hospital visit to see nemesis Jose Chameleone, he said: “I don’t have a right to hate, I have a right to discipline. I can’t fight with an injured Jose. I fight able-bodied people. When he recovers, the fights will definitely resume,†He said to thunderous cheers from fans.
When Wine’s elder brother, Eddie Yawe stepped onto stage with a sober song, Kati Onoba, Wine mutilated it, replacing most lines with Ganja heralding lyrics. He did the same with the late Paul Kafeero’s Ddipo Nazigala. His versatility and quick thought altering the lines bowled the crowd.
You can only guess who danced most when he sang his latest ballad, Singa — Barbie Itungo, his wife. Toyota, President Museveni’s younger brother, requested an encore performance thrice!
