APAC deputy resident district commissioner, Semei Okwir, has cautioned child rights abusers in the area to stop the act or face prosecution.

APAC deputy resident district commissioner, Semei Okwir, has cautioned child rights abusers in the area to stop the act or face prosecution.
Addressing children’s protection committee at a Save the Children workshop, at Scouts Hall recently, Okwir said reports show that many children were being abused.
Forms of abuse include corporal punishment in schools, torture and child sacrifice.
The workshop drew participants from Balla and Alito sub-counties who were encouraged to mobilise their communities to protect children’s rights. Okwir advised the participants to remain non-partisan and vigilant.
He urged participants to ensure that cases on defilement, rape, early marriages, forced school drop-outs and incest are handled by the Police and courts of law. He warned LCs against handling criminal cases of defilement in kangaroo courts or they face the law.
