Takiya came after I had finished my dinner. When I set my eyes on her, she didn’t look bad. I decided to watch out for indicators of whether she was easy-going.

“How do you like the date?” she asked. “It’s too early to judge,” I said. “To me, it’s nice; I’ve found the kind of person I had dreamed of,” she said. “Are you married?” “No,” I replied. “But I have somebody else I’m seeing.” She remained silent for a moment and asked: “How long have you been with her?” “For one year.”

As the conversation contintued, I counselled her on falling for somebody on first sight. This is dangerous, I said, because she could miss the wealth President Museveni recently said Uganda is about to get from the oil . The next morning, I found a missed call. I called back to find out how her night was. Later in the day, she called again, thanking me for the date. I also expressed my gratitude for her company.

Does it mean you people have plans to go out again?
I don’t think so.

Anything you wanted her to do differently?
Her dress code was motherly and she had an accent.

How would you have liked her to dress?
I wish she had dressed to suit the occasion.

Tell us what you liked about her
She’s social, free and speaks her mind. Were she to love someone, she would do it wholeheartedly. She also has big dreams – she pointed at a big car at the Nissan Showroom, saying it’s her dream car.

The guy wasn’t bad. He called me this morning, wishing me a good day and promised another date. The date was full of fun; he was humorous. There’s a moment he said it would be interesting if we have children in future. I told him there was no need to rush. “I’ve to settle before deciding on children.” “I’ll take you out again so that we discuss it further,” he promised.

He said he abandoned his girlfriend because her place, Kapchorwa, was too far for him to go for kwanjula. If we were to get married, he said, it would be easier since we both come from the west.

We later went to the gardens. “Your lips look nice. If it wasn’t the first time we were meeting, I would kiss them. Can I just give you a peck?”he requested. On insisting, I accepted, but on the cheek.

When I declined to comment on whether I had a boyfriend, he said he would do his investigations.

Overall, how many marks do you give him?
70%.

Why?
He’s a man of style and didn’t bore me.

What plans do you have for him?
If he calls me, I’ll go and meet him but if he doesn’t, I’ll chill.

What was you most memorable moment of the date?
The peck; it was tender.
