Masaka district councillors forced the speaker, Livingstone Muzanganda, to cancel the Thursday council session before it started.

Nyendo-Sennyange division councillor Michael Mulindwa said the agenda for the meeting could not be discussed when the councillors still had grievances.

“There are a number of issues we feel must be addressed without the technocrats,” he said.

The motion was supported by Ruth Komugisha, Woman councillor for Kyamuliibwa and Kalungu sub-counties and David Bbaale representing Kisekka sub-county.
“However much we raise issues as councillors, they are ignored,” Mulindwa said.

Komugisha said the graduated tax compensation funds were misused.
“The executive and the chief administrative officer’s (CAO) office use the money as they wish,” she said.

The CAO, George Ntulume, denied the allegations and referred The New Vision to the LC5 chairman, Vincent Sempijja.

Sempijja could not be reached for a comment since his mobile phone was switched off.
