A MAKERERE University student of Bachelor of Information Technology has been arrested in connection with killing his lover recently.
Duke Mabeya, 25, was picked from Douglas Villa Hostel in Makerere and was immediately detained at Wandegeya police station from where he was transferred to Old Kampala police station.
He allegedly killed Ruth Oirere Nyarangi, a student at Bugema University in Luweero, who went missing last month.
His transfer, according to Wandegeya CID boss, Cherimo Beta, was because the victim was murdered in Kawaala, which is under Old Kampala police station’s jurisdiction.
Nyarangi, a Kenyan, was pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree and was in the first year.
Her body was discovered in a bathroom in Uk Umka, a guest house in Kawaala.
Bukedde, published a story of an unknown person who was found dead in the guest house. KCC personnel buried the body in Lusaze.
Mabeya who was reportedly seen with her on the day she died, was nabbed on suspicion of abducting her. While in detention, the Police received clues linking him to the murder.
“You cannot kill someone and get away with it,†Old Kampala police chief, Moses Mwanga told Saturday Vision.
Mwanga added that Nyarangi’s remains would be exhumed and handed to her relatives for burial in Kenya.
He also said Mabeya is soon expected to appear in court over murder.
