MBALE - The Rotary Club recently donated 200 mosquito nets to three schools and paid school fees for 15 orphans in the district. The club acting public relations officer, James Kutosi, said malaria and fees had become the biggest challenge to the orphaned students, leading to high death and schooldrop out rates.

CAO remits over sh4m

IGANGA - The chief administrative officer, Danson Mukasa, has remitted money overpaid to the district civil servants in the 2002/2003 year. Over sh300m was released to settle the salaries of the workers. However, they were erroneously paid an excess of sh4,697,604. “The required recoveries have since been effected from all the beneficiary payees that had been paid in excess and transferred to the treasury,” Mukasa said.
