POLICE are holding a suspect arrested in an operation over the weekend to crackdown on the illegal trafficking of ivory, a top Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) official has said.
“This indicates that illegal activities are going on,†said Sam Mwandha, UWA’s conservation director. “It gives us a wake-up call to prevent poaching.â€
Mwandha, however, declined to name the suspect, saying it would undermine efforts to fight trafficking. He said the ivory weighing about 30 kilogrammes was seized in Kampala, Kihihi and Gulu
