Big Brother Africa 3 Angolan housemate Ricco said he had watched several Big Brother episodes including those in Europe and knew what to do to win the $100,000 (sh180m) prize. It is, therefore, not surprising that Ricco beat other housemates to the prize.

Before the announcement, Ricco, 21, danced crazily as if to celebrate his anticipated win. The dancing continued when he was declared winner in what was the most historical of wins since the show was launched in 2003.

Malawi’s Hazel, 25, tied with Ricco, each of them garnering six votes. So the person with the highest percentage (Ricco) was declared the winner.

Amidst cheers, Ricco received a silver briefcase containing the cash, but it would be wired to his account to reduce the risks of flying home with the money. Hazel won a laptop, digital camera and mobile phone.

Ricco has lived in four countries and plans to continue globe-trotting. Zimbabwe’s Munya, was evicted shortly before Ricco was declared the winner.

The other housemates who had been evicted were also present. Asked whether he had a thing for Tanzania’s Latoya, Ugandan representative, Morris said: “Maybe, maybe not. Latoya is a gorgeous woman.”

Kenya’s Sheila said she and Zambia’s TK, were special friends, but fell short of explaining their relationship.

Nigeria’s Uti confessed that his outburst at Lucille’s eviction was real because he loved the Namibian, although he had not told her.

Munya’s father had anticipated that his son would win because he had behaved like a true African. Brick and Lace, the Jamaican sisters, entertained revellers.
