Promote discipline in schools

I saw an article by Fortunate Ahimbisibwe titled Teachers Face Axe Over Corporal Punishment, (The New Vision, November 12,). I am teaching parenting at the University of Hawaii and have an interest in home and school child discipline and how it affects school and learning.

I saw an article by Fortunate Ahimbisibwe titled Teachers Face Axe Over Corporal Punishment, (The New Vision, November 12,). I am teaching parenting at the University of Hawaii and have an interest in home and school child discipline and how it affects school and learning. I agree that Uganda’s school drop-out rate of 50% is significantly caused by corporal punishment.

Dr. Raymond Corsini developed an educational philosophy and system called Individual Education(IE). It is based on the writings of Dr. Alfred Adler. If the Government is interested in lowering the dropout rate and increasing the scholarship of its students, I would ask the minister of education to read the book Effective Discipline in the Home and School, by Genevieve Painter and Raymond Corsini. It can be bought on Amazon.com.

IE is a democratic way of educating children. If there is interest, I can answer questions and refer the minister to effective resources.

In the meantime, I would ask the minister to go to www.nospank.net and download the free booklet, Plain Talk about Spanking.
