FINCA, a financial institution, over the weekend opened its 18th branch in Gulu town.

The branch is expected to promote small loans to bring about big changes in the north where thousands are returning home from the internally-displaced people’s camps following the relative peace prevailing in the region after the 21-year-old Lords Resistance Army rebellion, top officials said.

They said the motive was to empower the residents with loans with low interest rates as low as 2% per annum.

Fabian Kasi, the chief executive officer, encouraged the travellers and mothers to access group or individual loans.

“FINCA has come with a lot of differences. It’s not any other small financial institution that you know about. We are a strong institution that is ready to support the communities all the time,” Kasi said during the launch at Aywee Health Centre.
