THE christmas season has already set in, with business and movement, especially in Kampala city, rising every other day.
But thieves are also on the loose. There are some smartly dressed young men lingering around city shopping malls and in strategic positions pretending to help potential shoppers.
They woo the unsuspecting public to ‘cheaper stores’ for the same merchandise in the malls. When you follow them to the ‘stores’, they claim their ‘bosses’ will not allow the customer to enter with money.
So, they tell the buyer to wrap the money in an opaque polythene bag. They even show the customer how and where to hide it.
In the process of the demonstration, they hand back to you a polythene bag containing papers. They then tell you to wait for them as they access the stores. But since the arcades have many outlets, they use another route to escape.
People should therefore watch out whenever they go shopping during the festive season season.
