I sat for sometime before the waitress led me to where Daphine was. When I told her my name, she said: “I like Muslims because they do not drink.”

I told her I was a businessman and she expressed joy because according to her, I could be of help. I said: “If God wills, we’ll help each other.”

Our drinks were brought and mine was Red Bull while she opted for a Krest. She said Krest was good at maintaining a slim figure. We agreed to pay each other visits as soon as possible. We exchanged contacts and she told me: “I’ll see how much you love me by how regular your calls will be.”

How many times have you called her so far?
I called her about 30 minutes after we parted but I’ll call her again. I want to find out what she’s after. I suspect she’s interested in a serious relationship but I would rather go for friendship.

Can two people of the opposite sex remain just casual friends?
Yes, it’s possible.

Where do you draw the line?
You do not go beyond calling each other, sharing jokes and visiting.

I had to wait for about 30 minutes before he showed up. He initially sat a distance away from me before a waitress brought him to where I was. After the usual pleasantries, we exchanged contacts. I asked if he was married and he said he was not. He asked if I was single and I told him I had a boyfriend.

I asked him why he was not married yet he looked mature and he said he has been looking for the right partner. He asked if I was ready to start a relationship with him that could result into marriage. I told him I would need to first break up with my current boyfriend for that to happen. “I’m willing to wait until that happens,” he said.

Has he called you since then?
Yes he has. He called me that very night to ask if I had arrived home safely and to wish me a good night.

What did you find striking about him?
He’s tall and speaks politely.

And the downside?
His dress code; I would have preferred him to come in a tucked-in shirt and a tie.

What will you remember him for?
He asked me to marry him. Can you imagine? I am not ready for marriage.

When should I expect an invitation for the kwanjula?
At least eight years from now. I want to get married after getting a job.
