Migunda, Nasimolo pick golf prizes

SAMMY Migunda and Jeninah Nasimolo gathered 918 and 892 nett respectively to win the overall prize of the men and ladies categories in the MTN monthly mug golf competitions that ended on Saturday.<br>

SAMMY Migunda and Jeninah Nasimolo gathered 918 and 892 nett respectively to win the overall prize of the men and ladies categories in the MTN monthly mug golf competitions that ended on Saturday.

The two accumulated the points from all the monthly competitions that have taken place throughout the year and will enjoy fully paid trips of four people to Bulago islands.

But it was John Waigo who returned 76 gross to win the crowning mug of mugs competition on the same day. Youngster Morris Ntege was runners up with 77 gross.

Emmanuel Nyakori with a nett score of 73 was group A’s winner while Fabian Rwalinda was runner up with 74.

Group B had Richard Mwami topping it with 70 nett with John Kivumu following closely at 71 nett. Ken Lubega topped group C with 68 nett beating Gerald Abila by 5 strokes to the top prize.

In the ladies category Flavia Namakula beat Harriet Kitaka by two strokes to win the ladies crown after carding 71 gross. Jovia Otim and Mary Zaramba were group B’s best performers returning 73 and 78 respectively.

In the professionals category Deo Akope emerged overall winner with 46,433 points on top of winning the 4th quarter prize. He received a sh3m cheque for his efforts. Godfrey Mande was runner up having accumulated 46,299 points.

Kenya’s Dismas Ndiza, who set a new course record of 74 on his way to winning the mug of mugs contest received a sh10m cheque from MTN Foundation chairman George Egadu, to be shared by the 18 professionals that competed.
