POLITICIAN from Luweero have buried their hatchets, the district leadership committee reported on Thursday. The committee was instituted by Vice-president Prof. Gilbert Bukenya to unite the area politicians who were divided during the campaigns for the 2006 elections.

Another objective of the committee, which is headed by the Attorney General, Dr. Khiddu Makubuya, was to bring about development in the district.

The wrangles, which were characterised by public outbursts and attacks on radio talk-shows, pitted one faction headed by the state minister for youth, James Kinobe, against that of the district Movement chairman, Hajj Abdul Nadduli.

“I am glad to report that our leaders have now reunited. There is no more bickering on radio,” Makubuya said.
He was addressing members of the Luweero Interim Leadership Committee during a review meeting recently.

Makubuya advised the district leaders to mobilise the people for development.

The Luweero district vice-chairperson, Aisha Kayaga, had earlier said there was a lot of redundancy and self- pity among the residents, which she blamed for the widespread poverty.
