TABLE TENNIS - Uganda Table Tennis Association president Emmanuel Matsyetsye yesterday released the 2009 Table Tennis calendar at Lugogo. According to the calendar the season will open with a holiday clinic and a club league in January. The Makerere Open will follow in Febuary on dates that will be decided later. UTTA will then select the national team for ITTF junior circuit to be held in Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania, March 26-29.
Tanzania hosts Africa tourney
CRICKET - Tanzania will host an African cricket championship in March next year to feature countries affiliated to the African cricket body. It will be the second time for Tanzania to host a big international event after staging a Fourth Division World Cup qualifiers in October. Tanzania finished bottom in the qualifiers which attracted five teams.
FUBA plans for Zone V meet
BASKETBALL - The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association technical committee will hold a meeting next Tuesday to begin preparations for the Zone V qualifiers for the African championships due February in Rwanda. Top on the agenda will be selecting 20 players apiece for the men’s and ladies’ teams to start preparations for the qualifiers which tip-off on February 23.
