EDITOR—I was not shocked by the news that 45 people had been hacked to death by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the DR Congo. However, what sent shivers down my spine was their bodies scattered on the ground.

This is the price we are paying for giving Kony a shoulder to cry on every time the game turns sour and he cries out for peace talks! I still don’t understand why the international community has not come in to assist defeat Kony once and for all since he has proved to be an international terrorist.
Let us show compassion for those who have borne the brunt of the conflict and stop making political capital out of the war. I call it hypocrisy when some people kick up a fuss about two or three people who happen to die during the bombing raid by the UPDF and stay mum when Kony kills 45 in the twinkling of an eye!
I knew long ago even before the talks that Kony was not in for peace talks and was just fooling the world in order to buy time for the LRA to regroup and continue with the mayhem.
