SIR — The headline of your article “CHOGM theme unveiled†published on Monday was misleading.
While it is true that Dr. Mark Collins, the Director of the Commonwealth Foundation announced the theme for the Commonwealth People’s Forum as “Realising peoples’ potentialâ€, this should not be mistaken for the theme of CHOGM, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
There are meticulously laid-down protocols for announcing the CHOGM theme that have to be strictly adhered to and they are the prerogative of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the host government.
It is important to note that CHOGM is a basket of events, the main one of which is Heads of Government meeting.
Others are the Commonwealth People’s Forum, the Business Forum and the Youth Forum. It is vital to report accurately to avoid confusing the public or even causing a diplomatic glitch.
