CITY garbage collector Nabugabo Updeal Joint Venture is not worried about a new company, ESCOM, which is allegedly going to do the same work, writes Mikaili Sseppuya.
Recently, Kampala Mayor Al Hajji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala said ESCOM would collect all the rubbish ‘because all the other companies had failed.’
Nabugabo Updeal is one of Kampala’s oldest garbage-collecting companies.
A company official, Hajji Senyondo, said: “We are pioneers in this business and have agreements with the authorities. Even the President recognised us. It is not a matter of frustrating us.â€
Senyondo said they need to meet the authorities to clarify the matter.
Nabugabo Updeal recently acquired 20 trucks for collecting rubbish and has some joint venture agreements with north European companies.
