SN Brussels Airline and Virgin Express got 8% more passengers last year. The two airlines’ vice-president for external communication, Geert Sciot, said in a statement that 5.9 million passengers flew with the largest Belgian aviation group from or to Brussels Airport.

“This is over 416,000 more than in 2005. 3.9 million clients used SN Brussels full service offer, while Virgin Express’ low-fare flights attracted 1.9 million passengers,” Sciot said.

He said there were more passengers due to introduction of competitive low-fare prices, optimisation of flights and improved use of aircraft.

Sciot explained: “On March 25, SN Brussels and Virgin Express will make way for Brussels Airlines which will launch two new product formulas.”
